Growing up, one grandmother collected teapots & the ONeal kids regularly enjoyed real tea parties. The tea cups were mismatched & the teapot often filled with koolaid but the tea parties were always full of love!

Sara ONeal is the manager of HomeSteady Assisted Living in Spring, Texas. She is a former a homeschooling mom with a background in event planning & caregiving. The idea for Creative Abili-Tea was developed as Sara watched three of her own kiddos make the transition to adulthood while facing disabilities. What if we could find a way to be productive around the doctor appointments & physical limitations that disability creates? What if we could turn their abundant creativity into business ability? Sara's goal is to facilitate a great shopping experience for customers that also provides some entrepreneurial purpose for friends & loved ones with disabilities.
Our family of 6 lives in Porter, Texas with a menagerie of rescue cats, & 1 wonderful dog named Juni. Over the years we have become adept at facing challenges & supporting each other 100%. Creative Abili-Tea is a group effort that helps family members develop skills & reach for independence, despite (or maybe in spite) of disabilities. As it currently exists, Creative Abili-Tea functions primarily as a continuing education program for the family's adult children who are maturing on their own developmental timeline. (Mom found a way to continue homeschooling!)
Cookies, Teas, & Crafted Things
At Creative Abili-Tea the herbal teas & baked goods are a constant. The Crafted Things are an ever changing collection of items as diverse as the people who create them. Practical daily use items & wonderful gift possibilities fill out our displays. To enable us to conduct business while our crafters create, we do offer a collection of curated items and other products, such as tea diffusers, that complement our crafted items. We are also focusing on creating adaptation items for the disability community such as fidget jewelry.
See pictures of past & current items on our Crafted Things page.
See a face you recognize but a name you don't?
Creative Abili-Tea is committed to letting each artist control their online persona. Some use nicknames or spellings that they prefer in real life, too. Being in charge of one's own identity is an important part of creative ability!
